Tin Hau Temple

Established in 1774, the Tin Hau Temple stands as a testament to the enduring veneration of the Goddess of the Sea. Cheung Chau, a small island known for its strong seafaring traditions, is home to four Tin Hau Temples, highlighting the goddess’s significant role in the lives of the local fishing community.

This temple in Sai Wan was founded by local fishermen who sought the protection and blessings of Tin Hau for safe voyages and bountiful catches.
